His Majesty's Hostage - Volume 1 - Chapter 19

Chapter 19

ZiLi’s outburst of anger finally made the other two pay attention to him. But when he met Hong Xu's malevolent and dangerous gaze, the courage 1 he had just moments ago immediately vanished.

“Uh, the thing is, Your Majesty, My humble self would like to leave first so as not to disturb Your Majesty and― and―”

“Hong Qing. I 2 am the Ninth Prince 3 , Hong Qing.” Hong Qing looked at ZiLi with great interest, and the curious, inquisitive gaze made ZiLi want to jump up and curse again.

“Right,” ZiLi’s head was throbbing as he smiled stiffly and said, “so as not to disturb His Majesty and Prince Hong Qing in discussing important matters.”

Hong Xu narrowed his long and narrow phoenix eyes and stared at ZiLi, who had put on a fake smile. Only when a bead of sweat rolled down ZiLi's forehead did he cease his death stare and then, not without an ambiguous and malicious smile, said, “Then the Third Prince is excused. There is plenty of time in the future, and We are in no rush!

ZiLi swallowed his saliva. This man is hella scary! But anyway, I am safe for the time being! But what about the future?

*Sweats*

I’ll have to figure something out when I get back to my palace!

After Hong Xu told him he could go, ZiLi immediately got up and quickly put on his clothes and before he had wrapped his belt around himself, he pulled open the door and fled the scene as if being chased by a ghost.

“How interesting! Imperial Elder Brother, your male attendant 4 is truly fascinating!” Hong Qing looked in the direction where ZiLi had disappeared and said.

“Well, he is very fascinating indeed, but he is not a male attendant,” Hong Xu paused and then continued, “and a person who is still full of mysteries.”

“Huh? Not a male attendant? Then who is he?”

Dark lines 5 appeared on Hong Xu’s forehead as he looked at Hong Qing, who had suddenly approached him and tugged at his sleeves with bright eyes.

Hong Xu could be the Emperor of Chu Jing who would take revenge on his enemies for a trifle 6 and make them tremble with fear with just his name 7 , or he could be an Emperor who could make all his subjects be silent out of fear 8 as soon as his mood deteriorated. But when faced with his simple-minded younger brother 9 of the same mother, he could only be an indulgent and loving older brother 10 . So, he could tolerate all his younger brother's shortcomings and ignore all his disrespectful behavior. It is because of his habit of being lenient to his younger brother that his younger brother was now so unconstrained. Therefore, when Hong Qing was blocking his path and tugging his robe, Hong Xu could only pull him away in irritation and utter the sentence, “How impudent.”

“Imperial Elder Brother? You still haven't told me who he is!” Hong Qing firmly grasped the Emperor, who could be described as ruthless, again and asked.

“Are you done with your task? You are noisy,” ignoring him, Hong Xu walked around him, sat down behind the Imperial desk, which stood on top of a platform, and replied with a serious face.

As soon as Hong Qing heard that his brother was asking about his task, he immediately became proud of himself. Someone else, if we were talking about the task he was doing right now, would not be quite as capable. There was no one who could do it better than him! Indeed, Hong Qing could be said to be the kind of person with a high IQ and a mediocre EQ. Moreover, he was also a genius in martial arts, and his level of mastery in the skills was even higher 11 than that of Hong Xu.

“Imperial Elder Brother, this time the mission was really interesting. The scenery of the Kingdom of Bei Ling is indeed beautiful!”

“Ahem!”

“Oh, a split happened in their country, and you were just sightseeing!” Once again, dark lines appeared on Hong Xu’s forehead as he looked at Hong Qing, who did not immediately get to the point, as if he wanted to scold him.

Hong Qing stopped messing around and began to continue in a serious tone, “The people we had deployed to Bei Ling's court have done their job. I’ve had them split into two factions to join the forces of either the King of Bei Ling or the First Prince, An JinLuo, and then let them fan the flames 12 to increase the level of hostility between the two factions. Now, major cracks already have appeared in the political situation of the royal family of Bei Ling, and the body of the King of Bei Ling is also getting worse day by day. An JinLuo has already started purging the other princes for the throne. At this moment, only An JinYu, the Third Prince of Bei Ling, who is imprisoned in our country as a Hostage Prince, still has a chance to compete with him for the throne. The King of Bei Ling has also remembered that the Third Prince is still in our country, so he deliberately sent a group of emissaries under the pretext of a visit, to rescue him. It is estimated that this group will arrive in half a month.”

After Hong Xu listened, he said nothing. He had already guessed this from the reports of the spies. However, Hong Qing’s story did bring one thing to his attention, Being able to remove the other six princes in such a short time, An JinLuo is not as simple as he seems!

But even if he was powerful, that would not be a problem in Hong Xu's eyes, because he had a trump card in his hand. And he, the player, will use this chess piece perfectly to get Bei Ling in his pocket without bloodshed 13 !

Thinking of this, Hong Xu finally showed a cold smile.

And since both words are used in this story, I'm not sure there is a difference between the two. Please, let me know if I should change it.
