The Elegant Dancing Years - Chapter 82 - Volume 2

Chapter 82 – A Change of Direction

Qi Xutian knew exactly what Qi Mingyue was thinking. Letting him meet the siblings and openly revealing their relationship in front of them had been meant to reassure him, while also discouraging the two from pursuing his Ming’er any further. However, he doubted the siblings would give up so easily. Considering how extraordinary his Ming’er was, he knew there would be many more who would fall for him in the future. If he doubted his Ming’er, he would only be underestimating him. Even so, faced with his Ming’er’s question and knowing exactly what the other was really after, Qi Xutian did not know whether to laugh or to cry. “Is Ming’er really in such a hurry? You should know you are still young. I am afraid……” His gaze slid suggestively downward before Qi Xutian gave a wicked smirk, the meaning self-evident.

Hearing this, Qi Mingyue frowned slightly, but immediately eased his expression and let it go. He idly wound a strand of hair around his fingers before leaning closer. His slightly lowered eyes revealed nothing of his thoughts. As Qi Mingyue approached, Qi Xutian felt the other’s slightly warm breath brush against his face, and then heard his Ming’er’s soft whisper by his ear. It carried the confidence of someone who was certain of victory, along with an irresistible allure. “Mingyue is not in a hurry. One day…… I will make Father Emperor understand just how capable I am. When that time comes, Father Emperor will know what it is like to be under me……”

After saying that, Qi Mingyue’s lips curved into a smile. He leaned in a little closer, pressed his lips against Qi Xutian’s with gentle pressure, and gave them a light lick before finally straightening up. Seeing the faint red mark beneath his Imperial father’s ear, Qi Mingyue couldn’t have been more pleased. Chuckling softly, he tilted his head as he asked with a smile, “How much longer does Father Emperor plan to rest? Don’t we still have a journey ahead of us?”

Qi Xutian neither spoke nor moved, simply indulging Qi Mingyue’s playful antics. Whenever he looked at Qi Mingyue, his eyes were always filled with affection and admiration. In this world, his Ming’er was the only person who dared to behave so freely with him. He gave a few deep chuckles, showing no objection to Qi Mingyue’s earlier words. Rising to his feet, he paused briefly before answering the question Qi Mingyue had just asked, “Originally, we were going to continue our journey, but now your Father Emperor has changed his mind……” Standing behind the screen and listening to the commotion outside, a hint of interest appeared on his face. “It has been a long time since I last stepped into the Jianghu. Yet now it seems that it is still just as interesting as ever.” As if something had occurred to him, the smile on Qi Xutian’s lips grew even wider. “Someone has stirred your Father Emperor’s interest. After thinking it over, I feel that this place is actually more interesting. Since Yunhao Manor is so lively, wouldn’t it be a shame for us not to go?”

“Father Emperor intends to attend the Grand Assembly?” Having sensed the fleeting aura that had appeared earlier, Qi Mingyue could more or less guess who his Imperial father meant by ‘someone’. Ruan Tianqi and Ruan Zilian could never have attracted his Imperial father’s attention. The one who had truly piqued his interest was most likely the Grand Assembly that An Yang had set his sights on, or perhaps the elusive and mysterious Lan Jin. Although Qi Mingyue had not seen the Shadow Guards, his Imperial father would certainly not have left the palace without them accompanying him. The aura that had appeared only briefly a moment ago might well have belonged to a Shadow Guard returning from investigating the manor. Perhaps they had already uncovered some useful intelligence, or perhaps it had come from the secret agents already stationed within the manor……

As he considered the various possibilities, a faint smile appeared on Qi Mingyue’s face. “Could it be that something has happened within Yunhao Manor? Has Father Emperor received some news? The secret agents you have stationed in the manor surely wouldn’t have come up empty-handed. If whatever they have uncovered has managed to pique Father Emperor’s interest, then it must be far more interesting than the ceremonies at the palace.”

“Ming’er guessed right. Something has indeed happened at Yunhao Manor.” Having just received a secret report from the Shadow Guards, Qi Xutian had decided to change his plans. Since he had already instructed Liu Yi to postpone palace affairs, staying a few more days would make little difference. With Liu Yi overseeing matters, nothing would go wrong in the palace, and if anything urgent arose, Liu Yi would naturally have someone send word. By comparison, it was actually the Grand Assembly at Yunhao Manor that held far more of his interest. “I have just received word that Lan Jin has apparently appeared near the manor and should arrive within the next few days.”

“No wonder Father Emperor changed his mind. Such an interesting event cannot be missed. Mingyue is also very curious about Lan Jin. I wonder what kind of person this man of great learning and immense treasures will be.” The successor of old man Xuan Tai only passed on his inheritance once every few decades. If Lan Jin, who has appeared this time, truly possesses such abilities, he may well throw the entire realm into chaos. Setting aside his talents and knowledge, the treasures and riches he possessed alone would be enough to make the people of the Jianghu compete to pursue him. Whenever treasure was mentioned, people inevitably became blinded by greed. With his appearance this time, who knew how great a disturbance he would cause?

“Your Father Emperor is also very curious.” With Lan Jin appearing in Cang He, An Yang would certainly not sit idly by. Qi Xutian was rather looking forward to seeing what exactly An Yang would do.

Hearing the commotion outside, Qi Xutian strode out. The half-mask traced a streak of golden light through the air. The moment he appeared, the people from the Jianghu immediately fell silent, intimidated by his imposing presence. The entire restaurant became quiet as well. He casually tossed a silver note to the waiter and, as though no one else existed, had already stepped out of the restaurant.

Seeing that his Imperial father no longer restrained his aura and simply walked out, Qi Mingyue watched as the other’s arrogant and devilish presence caused everyone to hold their breath in silence. Yet seeing his Imperial father remained completely unfazed, and even standing outside the restaurant to wait for him, Qi Mingyue could not help but chuckle. He called Wu Yao over, and following behind he stepped out as if nothing had happened.

Outside the restaurant, his Imperial father stood with his hands behind his back. The golden mask glimmered with a mysterious, dark sheen in the sunlight, while his black hair was slightly tousled by the wind, giving him an indescribably wild air. He was looking directly at Qi Mingyue, simply standing there with an air of ease, yet his entire being radiated a sinister and dangerous allure that was enough to draw everyone’s gaze while simultaneously leaving them deeply unsettled.

Walking unhurriedly to his side, Qi Mingyue looked up and smiled at him. “The Dark Emperor truly is extraordinary. The moment you appear, you attract so much attention. It seems Father Emperor intends to make his return to the Jianghu.” Seeing the people inside the restaurant craning their necks to get a look, he could already tell that the next few days would be anything but boring.

“To be worthy of Young Lord Shuiyue, your Father Emperor has no choice but to show off a little for once. Does Ming’er think his Father Emperor is dressed too conspicuously?” Qi Xutian glanced down at his lustrous snow-white robes and frowned.

“The mask is what really draws attention. Yet it suits Father Emperor perfectly, and Mingyue actually quite likes it.” It was certainly better than having his Imperial father disguise his appearance. He already liked his Imperial father’s natural features, and it would be a shame to hide them behind something else. Besides, the mask did not conceal his Imperial father’s true aura. His handsome features were still clearly discernible, only now with an added air of mystery and wildness.

“Does seeing your Father Emperor like this, so different from how I appear in the palace, make Ming’er fall for me all over again?” Qi Xutian teased, pulling him close as they walked toward the carriage.

“What if it does?” Once inside the carriage, Qi Mingyue asked as he reclined against the soft cushions, raising an eyebrow with a smile.

Taking off the mask, Qi Xutian’s long and narrow eyes flashed with an unusual glint. The corners of his lips lifted slightly as his fingertips tilted Qi Mingyue’s chin upward. “Isn’t Ming’er asking a question he already knows the answer to……” His fingers brushed lightly over Qi Mingyue’s lips several times. Gazing at those slightly parted lips, he could not resist leaning in and capturing them in a kiss.

“Mingyue remembers…… Father Emperor was concerned that the journey would be hard on me.” After their deep kiss, he drew back slightly, knowing full well what his Imperial father had meant. A teasing smile showed in his eyes as he reminded the other.

His palm slid down the alluring curve of Qi Mingyue’s waist, and a wicked smile appeared on Qi Xutian’s lips. “Ming’er you said yourself that the journey was not hard at all, and now you’ve had a full night’s rest. If your Father Emperor keeps holding back, then your Father Emperor will be the one having a hard time. Could Ming’er really bear to see me like this?” He took Qi Mingyue’s hands and guided them to his lower body, his smile becoming even more suggestive and wicked.

Qi Mingyue pressed lightly against the heat in his palm, feeling the heated object grow bigger, and a faint smile curved his lips. “Father Emperor really is having a hard time. How about letting Mingyue make things easier for you?”

“Your Father Emperor has been waiting for Ming’er to say that. I wonder, what method does Ming’er intend to use?” He pulled his Ming’er into his arms, noticing that Qi Mingyue lower body had also already reacted, he unconsciously gave a soft chuckle. Then his low, suggestive voice sounded beside Qi Mingyue’s ear. “So Ming’er has it hard too.”

“Mingyue is only like this because of Father Emperor.” He pressed his arousal against his Imperial father’s lower abdomen, the desire within him already thoroughly stirred. As the two pressed against each other’s heat, Qi Xutian heard the other continue, “Whatever Father Emperor intends, Mingyue will do it with you.”

“That is very good……” The final note of his voice, still carrying a hint of amusement, gradually deepened. Looking at his Ming’er in his arms, he found the other even more irresistible. Unable to wait any longer, he leaned in and captured the other’s lips.

As the carriage wheels rolled on, the two inside naturally enjoyed a lingering intimate interlude, while the carriage continued on toward Yunhao Manor.

Back inside the restaurant, their departure immediately sent the place into a frenzy. Ever since news spread that the Grand Assembly would be held at Yunhao Manor, many people of the Jianghu had gathered in the surrounding towns and were making their way toward the manor. To have actually seen the legendary Dark Emperor here today naturally sparked endless speculation.

Given that the Dark Emperor had been absent from the Jianghu for many years, his sudden return just as Lan Jin was about to appear could not be a mere coincidence, it was certainly related. If one were to speculate, he must certainly have come for Lan Jin as well. After all, he had always been at odds with the Imperial court, so perhaps he had come to disrupt matters, preventing Lan Jin from siding with the people of Cang He. Or perhaps, like most of the people of the Jianghu, he too had come for the treasures.

“Looks like this Grand Assembly is going to be chaotic again. That man disappeared from the Jianghu for so many years, and not sooner or later, but just happened to reappear at this very moment. Don’t you all think things are bound to get chaotic?” The old hand of the Jianghu shook his head and put on an exaggerated sigh. “Looks like we’ll have quite a show this time.”

“That’s not all, ah. I just saw that man in silver robes. He was extremely handsome, with an equally remarkable bearing, and seemed very much like the person recently rumored to be skilled in Tianyin. If it really is him, then the Tianyin successor and the Dark Emperor have appeared together. Who knows what might be going on behind all this.”

“You really did guess correctly. That man is indeed Young Lord Shuiyue. I caught a glimpse of him from afar last time and never forgot him. Seeing him today, he’s clearly the same person. But it’s strange, how did he end up with the Dark Emperor?”

“The Dark Emperor acts mysteriously and is difficult to fathom. Who could possibly know how he came to be involved with Young Lord Shuiyue? But once we reach Yunhao Manor, we’ll surely find out.”

“Exactly, that’s right, outstanding heroes from across the realm have gathered, all waiting for Lan Jin to appear. There will surely be quite a struggle when the time comes. I wonder whom Lan Jin will ultimately choose to side with……”

After much discussion, everyone’s gaze turned toward Yunhao Manor. At that moment, it had become the center of everyone’s attention.
